Merece la pena tenerla en Blu-ray si te gusta la película. Hoping to see more make it to HD like “Sweet & Lowdown” which seems to have disappeared entirely from release. He seems to be in a world of a "retarded angel"...thisseems kind of forced, and at the viewer, kind of unsubtle, ..and the girl seems to be falling in and out of love with him via the conjuror, makin gher seem like suffering from"multiple personalitites" which seems to be the norm here and he's labelled as a criminal but exonerates himself at movies end, and she becomes norm and loves him..kind of? The plot is a homage to early American talkies and involves detectives, robberies, magicians, hypnotism, wise cracks and as always with Allen's films, dames. It would be worth watching for the music alone--listen for in a Persian Market, performed by Wilbur de Paris and his New Orleans Jazz band. He rescues the Hunt character from suicide, who was spurned in love by an odious fellow and wants to kill herself, and he knows she's a smart woman why's she falling for these men? Around all the references to "opium" it seems like everyone's on it...and his "pious lectures" ...the pretty girl hates him and he's jailed since everyone believes everything the pretty woman has to say and her boss boyfriend? Like his character Gill Pender in Midnight in Paris, Woody Allen has a vein of nostalgia running through his core which comes out to terrific effect in his period films. Not many film plots involve hypnosis, and this makes for an unusual and interesting story with romance thrown in. `The Curse of the Jade Scorpion' is a standard Woody Allen comedy homage / satire of an historical dramatic / film genre, in the same way that `Shadows and Fog' was a take-off on 1930s German expressionism and `A Mid-Summer's Night Sex Comedy' was a takeoff on Shakespeare's `A Mid-Summer's Night Dream'. Add to this potent mixture the usual highly complimentary music score, and you have a film which is entertaining, beautifully shot and, if you are a Woody Allen fan, another example of why he is one of the best directors ever to get behind a camera (and pen a script and act as well)
