Yes, yes I did. The Heffley family’s house undergoes a disastrous attempt at home improvement.When Great Aunt Reba dies, she leaves some money to the family. Meanwhile, her friend Ariel struggles with feeling safe in this new, kinda adoptive family, and with her magic, especially when she starts dreaming about the aunt she never knew about.I love this story so much. Greg’s mom calls a family meeting to determine what to do with their share, proposing home improvements and then overruling the family’s cartoonish wish lists and instead pushing for an addition to the kitchen.
While Greg’s positive about the move, he’s not completely uncaring about Rowley’s action. Read "The Midwinter Witch" by Molly Knox Ostertag available from Rakuten Kobo. I love that societal expectations are changed by those brave enough to be who they are and proud of who they are. Magic has a dark side . We’d love your help. Good reads for younger readers, but could be so much more compelling if allowed to grow a bit more. His friends on the other hand and his sister all seem to have his back a bout it from the beginning. I can't wait for more from Ostertag!
