If you ever get a chance to go back I’d definitely try and get out to the middle. No matter when you buy it, it expires on the 31st January the next year (if you buy it in December 2018, it will expire in January 2019- so you only get 2 months use out of it.) In total there were about 50 of us on the viewing platform area at once… and my goodness did it feel crowded.

To stand high above Europe's largest waterfall, feeling the roar and vibration of the water over one's entire body - this can be experienced at the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen. The nearest community is Neuhausen am Rheinfall, where tourists can also view the Wörth Castle. Happy to walk along the bank. We opted to take the yellow boat trip out into the middle so we could climb the viewing platform and look down into the falls. The main motorway which runs from Germany straight into Switzerland automatically becomes a toll road- there's nothing to stop you.
I think no boats and the castle is also not necessary. Rhine Falls motorhome parking offers you the chance to view the Rhine Falls and then pitch for the night. Signs are easily followed and the road, although steep, was easy to access, even pulling a trailer like we were. I don't think you're allowed to take pushchairs even onto the boat and I'm afraid it's totally unsuitable for anyone with limited mobility- even we found it hard going!
The Rhine Falls is in northern Switzerland, on the High Rhine river. We could (and possibly should) have stayed there and waited for the next boat back (you can stay on the platform as long as you like- no one checks your ticket back. Can anyone kindly indicate parking areas and average price in the vicinity of the falls. Since we park our car at P1 parking lot, we had to walk about 20 minutes to the Rhine Falls but along the way, we enjoyed the serenity and picturesque views of the waterfall.
Hiking & Bicycle. Active. We are driving from Freiburg to Rhine falls. Make sure you fit it correctly the first time, as it cannot be removed and repositioned. Surroundings. When we handed over our tickets, the guy pointed out that it was the wrong slot but he had space so he let us come along early. Boat trips can be taken up the Rhine to the falls and the Rheinfallfelsen. The boats are colour co-ordinated so you can easily find the right one.
I love waterfalls, (We were dropped off at the viewing platform which is right in the middle of the falls. Facts & figures. Parking areas at Rhine Falls. There are several parking areas and we were directed to park in the one right at the top (P4), which is about a 5-minute walk down to the Falls.
