WHAT HAPPENS IN PARADISE didn’t have a stand alone plot. During the decades of the World Wars, Haven begins to falter, and a number of Haven’s sons, perceiving that the world remains as hostile as before, decide to found a new all-black town named ‘Ruby’.The only reference to "sweetness" in Chapter Three, Grace, is Misner's reference to the "sweetest of sleeps", which he attributes to having eaten Anna's food.
