Keep that in mind. He is rude to his elders, whicAlright, my first complaint is that it should warn readers that it contains sensitive issues. Oh how I wished "Harry Potter" series never ended. Let us know what’s wrong with this preview of It ended yesterday on March 14th with 122 chapters in all! On this wiki you will find everything in and about Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, the novel-length Harry Potter fanfiction by Eliezer Yudkowsky.

The story is set in an alternate universe from the one written by J.K. Rowling, where Petunia Evans married an Oxford professor of biochemistry, Michael Verres, instead of Vernon Dursley. He is rude to his elders, which I can probably ignore, but the way he can be cruel is... argh. I guess I'll go with three stars which seems to say both of those things at once.I wanted to like this fanfic.

I found no humor, and little insight. I decided long ago that once HPMOR was fully written and published, I would try to get in touch with J. K. Rowling to see if HPMOR could be published in book form, maybe as HJPEV and the Methods of Rationality, with all profits accruing to a UK charity. While some scenes had me laughing out loud, I spent most of my time cringing or raising one eyebrow or the other; HPMOR is saturated with Yudkowsky's blatant disdain and a condescending tone. HPMOR.com is an authorized, ad-free mirror of Eliezer Yudkowsky ‘s epic Harry Potter fanfic, Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality (originally under the pen name Less Wrong ). The story is complete now, so the rss feed for the story mirror won’t be updating any more, although any further Author’s Notes will continue to show up in that rss feed. I mean, the premise itself was what got me hooked. I really liked it!This fall I reread the Harry Potter series for probably the 5th time (as I recommend everyone who grew up with it to do every now and then) and decided to top it off with reading the Methods of Rationality, which I'd heard good things about. In this case, the real value-add are principles of reasoning that can lead to better decisions by genuinely emotional, non-Spockian humans in real life. Recently I've been wondering just what exactly I wanted from literary fiction. Somehow I seem to be asking both too much and not enough, and therein lies the reason for my inability to rekindle the kind of pure unadulterated love I used to have for reading. I can understand this particular manipulation; still, I didn't want to stick around for more. In these strange days of quarantine and isolation, books can be a mode of transport. Harry was very close to being bad here; it made me wonder what that idiot Petunia had been teaching him. But while reading a story, the thought that it's a long one becomes an issue, then I believe the story is not fulfilling it's purpose. If you are a geek, you will most likely enjoy this book far more than the actual Harry Potter series. Definitely better than the original Harry Potter itself.

Great idea; terrible execution. The "rationality" is mostly Harry being a smug and cruel jackass. It was published as a serial from 28 February 2010 through to 14 March 2015. Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality (HPMOR) is a Harry Potter fan fiction by Eliezer Yudkowsky. Surely I did not expect life-changing epiphanies, at least not from every single book. As a novel (or the majority of a novel) it was pretty terrible. On the plus side, the entire point of the book is to inject someone who is aware of the flaws and fallacies in most human thinking and see what havoc it plays with the Potterverse.

I mean, hello? On the minus side, this Harry Potter talks and thinks quite a lot like someone in his late twenties with a lot of education and an obsession with science and rationality. Published

Structures should to be organic, voices have to be genuine and reviews must be glowing. Now Harry, a firm Rationalist, enters the wizarding world armed with Enlightenment ideals and the experimental spirit.
