Our transportation services and our bus driver is also a very important part of our team when we serve with BCMM. They have helped so many people, not only by arranging medical care with supplies and teams but more importantly by teaching and providing support to many local communities. I was also impressed with their strategic plan and ability to implement it.I've been able to work with Boca costa as an English -Spanish translator and the work that the organization does is just amazing, Boca costa has the ability to really help people out, and to give patients the follow up they need. For the people of this region, if it were not for Boca Costa Medical Mission, they would not have access to medical care. I have just returned from my second year of mission work with Boca Costa. Jim and Diane's mission has changed my life forever and I look forward to being a part of this compassionate, efficient, life changing organization's mission in making the lives of the Guatemalan people better for a long time. This group is run by a married couple, Jim and Diane Thompson, whose heart and soul is Guatemala! Boca Costa Medical Mission is the epitome of service and care. This simple solution has already reduced clinic visits for respiratory issues, particularly in children. I have worked with them in the past and have been donating money for years. They continue to serve more and more people. Their dedication, faith, and knowledge of the Guatemala country, customs and people, is the biggest reason I will continue to lead teams with Boca Costa knowing that they run a very organized, dependable mission who cares for all people, with no prejudices, and with the best interest of their patients. It is obvious the effect they have had in the remote area of Guatemala.
The baby's mother had died in childbirth and she came for formula. We worked in clinics in Xojola, Chocola, San Antonio. Great job Boca Costa!I have worked with Boca Costa for the last three years. It has changed my life, the way I see the world, the poor, even the way I spend money and use resources. If you find yourself vacilating about volunteering, just connect with Boca Costa one time and you will not only be amazed at how well these professional people coordinate each group with the impoverished Mayan people who are in great need of our help, you will also find yourself hooked. The work they do is critical to the people they serve. Both Jim and Diane give 110%. They serve the Mayan population of Guatemala health care.
I can't wait return and work with BCMM again!This year was my second medical service trip to Guatemala through BCMM. Jim and Dianne the founders of this nonprofit have established a relationship with the Guatemalan people based on trust and compassion. Working with children and adults at xohola opened my eyes and I realized how I am so blessed.
The first two days in the village, tears would stream down my face when I thought about two people leaving their home in the US to come to Guatemala to make an impact on as many as possible. They have also worked to have people from the area trained in nursing to carry on with care between the teams. It was such a great experience at the Boca Costa Medical Mission in Guatemala. I've been working with BCMM for several years and have attended multiple trips and have enjoyed every one. I have worked with a mission team with Boca Costa Missions as a pharmacist for 3 years in a row. Boca Costa is also amazingly adaptable as the needs of the community changes. Boca Costa also has projects to provide formula for the babies whose mothers cannot breastfeed or die in childbirth. Guatemalans benefit from inexpensive healthcare and Americans benefit from working with people from the Maya culture. If you are looking to travel and serve there, the program is designed well and you will have wonderful, caring interpreters. Everyone has their tasks which allows more patients to be seen.

It was a bonding experience for the team as we shared with the Mayan and Spanish people. Anyone attempting to reduce poverty knows the key is education, especially for girls. The children were so open and loving that your heart just goes out to them.
