Enjoyed it wayy more than the movie.. As a mean joke, Kyle Kingsbury, the most popular student in his high school, asks an unpopular girl named Kendra as his date to a dance, but then turns up at the dance with another date. When a robber stumbles into his garden Adrian offers him a deal; he will not report the robber to the police if the robber brings Adrian his daughter, Linda.

Adrian quickly lets her go to him and offers for her to return to the apartment in the spring if she desires, this time as a friend and not a prisoner. Kyle Kingsbury is rich, handsome, and popular; he is also selfish, shallow, and cruel. Perhaps I was tired and feeling a little raw when I read this in one four-hour sitting, but that isn't the only reason I got a catch in my throat and a drop in my eye.

His only company is his housekeeper, Magda, and, at his request, a blind tutor named Will. Welcome back. for me the message was as deep as a kitty cool, don't judge people by their appearance is something I learned when I was I kid, and it felt very, very forced in this book, with the dad being awful along with ever background character the one character I loved will who had learned to deal with his disabilly had it cured by magic......he was blind!! Published Sure. Enjoyed it wayy more than the movie.. But I did change my feelings as his actions and thoughts took a turn for the better. So, I am very, VERY relieved that I enjoyed this. I don't really think this book would have been very interesting for older teens, 10-13 year-olds is a target audience. On the last day of the second year, Adrian looks for Linda in the mirror and sees her being dragged into a building by a man. Beastly started slow, but as the story progressed, picked up speed and ended with a satisfying conclusion. It might even be my favorite fairy tale retelling that I've read so far.Just like with Nerve by Jeanne Ryan, I feel there are too many below average YA books around. I love a good fractured fairy tale, and this was no exception. 'Beauty and the Beast' has always been a favorite fairy tale for me. We’d love your help.

He plays a mean practical joke on an outcast girl in his class.

The 2007 novel Beastly, by Alex Flinn, is a modern fairytale.

He explains everything to Linda and the two go back and live in the apartment together. At the beginning of the story, I truly hated the main character and felt he definitely deserved to be turned into a beast! He is handsome and wealthy because of his father. After a year of being in this state, and trying and failing to find love, Kyle changes his name to Adrian, meaning "the dark one", to reflect his feelings of being a completely different person from the conceited, materialistic boy he used to be. It's an interesting retelling of the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast, because it's set in modern day New York, and told from the Beast's point of view. I love a good fractured fairy tale, and this was no exception. This is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. She is Adrian's last chance to break the spell before his two years are up.

I loved this up to date retelling of beauty and the beast.it was very well written. This was the very first beast that I felt not pity for at first, but as I found out about him I started to understand him better, that's the sign of a great storyteller.Adrian hides himself in a apartment with only his housekeeper Magda and his blind tutor will. The only pleasure he has is a greenhouse were he grows rose's,but whBeastly just goes to show that you can be beautiful of the face, but be a monster inside. He fixes up a room for her, leaving roses and books for her to amuse herself with. I wasn't expecting. The characters were stereotypical and not worth remembering. 'Beauty and the Beast' has always been a favorite fairy tale for me. Therefore reading this had me quite exciting. *sigh* I know I would have loved this book when i was a young teen with it's cheesy massage and it's lovey dovey couple, maybe i'm too old for it now.
